Mondial-2022: Giroud with Benzema, Varane and Kimpembe but not Maignan among the 25 Blues

Eleven 2018 world champions, including captain Hugo Lloris, substitute goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and attacking stars Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann, are on Didier Deschamps’ list to go to the World Cup.

The final version must be sent to Fifa no later than Monday at 7:00 p.m.

In defense, the many injuries led the boss of the Blues to summon nine players. World champions Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez, the latter’s brother, Theo, but also Jules Koundé, William Saliba, Ibrahima Konaté, Dayot Upamecano will be on the trip. Jonathan Clauss, Ferland Mendy and Lucas Digne, on the other hand, are among the disappointed.

Private in the midfield of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté, injured, Deschamps opted for a midfielder without a world champion, with Adrien Rabiot, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Youssouf Fofana, Eduardo Camavinga, Mattéo Guendouzi and Jordan Veretout.

The onslaught

In attack, Griezmann, Mbappé and Benzema are joined by wingers Kingsley Coman and Ousmane Dembélé, as well as current Bundesliga best player Christopher Nkunku. Olivier Giroud is also there, a deserved call for Jacques Vendroux who reacted on the show Europe 1 Sport.

Wissam Ben Yedder, Marcus Thuram, Moussa Diaby and Randal Kolo Muani are missing.
