Comeback of the ex-Monrose singer

Musician Bahar Kizil started with the casting girl group Monrose in 2006. Now the singer wants to go solo with her new single “They Said”.
With songs like “Shame,” “Hot Summer” and “Strictly Physical,” Monrose sang her way into the hearts of her fans. The former Popstars band, which was cast in 2006, consisted of the three singers Senna Gammour, 44, Mandy Capristo, 33, and Bahar Kizil, 35. The latter tells GALA that she “no longer has any contact” with her two ex-colleagues. Bahar now wants to go solo and has released her new single “They Said” on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8th, into which she has put her whole heart and soul.
Bahar Kizil: Comeback of the ex-Monrose star
The song is about the double standards in our society. In an interview with GALA, Bahar says: “It’s about the clichés, the pigeonholing in which we as a society are somehow caught, and the double standards. We’re basically growing up with it, right?” For example, one line in the song says “Curvy ok, just not on the stomach”– the perfect image for our double standards. “Women are allowed to have curves, but only if they sit in the right places,” criticizes Kizil.
“We are now much further along than we used to be”
But the performer herself also sees light at the end of the tunnel. “We are now much further along than we used to be. Luckily, curvy women and men find their place on catwalks, for example at Rihanna’s Fenty show. We as a society are much more open to the topic of curvyness and plus size, but nowhere near where we are We should be, right?” True!
And if you don’t conform to the ideal of beauty, you’ll often get gossiped about, especially on the Internet. But Bahar herself has developed a thick skin over the years – which doesn’t mean that nasty tips will bounce off her completely. “It would be a lie if nasty comments didn’t affect you. But I can fend them off much more today. That’s the great thing about getting older and growing up.”
“I only surround myself with people who…”
What also helps enormously: good friends who don’t measure a person’s worth by their clothing size, but by their character size. Bahar Kizil also recognized this for himself. “I only surround myself with people who like me as I am. You choose your fellow human beings, your loved ones. I need that too. People who are tolerant and respectful towards other people are important to me. I could “I don’t want to surround myself with people who are homophobic, racist or intolerant and exclusionary towards fat people. People who don’t understand the wonderful value of a colorful and individual society are taboo for me.”
No standstill at Bahar Kizil
Although things have been rather quiet around Bahar in recent years, that doesn’t mean that things have stood still for her – on the contrary. The musician studied marketing communications and gained new job experiences in order to further develop herself. “Now I have enough energy to release my songs independently and do what makes me the most happy.” And this music makes her fans very happy too!
