Monster Hunter World contemplates its 18 million units

If it logically begins to slow down, the game released in January 2018 sold just enough during the fiscal year (900,000 copies) to reach the 18 million mark and consolidate its place as great champion in all the history of Capcom games. What’s more, this figure does not include sales of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, which totaled 9.2 million sales (including 1.4 million for the fiscal year).

Another game that is aging particularly well, Resident Evil 7 biohazard, whose sales have only increased over the last two fiscal years. It had sold 1 million copies in 2019-2020, then 1.5 million in 2020-2021 and finally 1.8 million in 2021-2022. Result, this episode released in January 2017 has a total of 10.8 million copies even before being optimized on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

However, Resident Evil 7 biohazard is about to be overtaken by the even more remarkable performance of the remake of Resident Evil 2: 9.6 million copies distributed worldwide despite being released two years later. The 10 million mark is only a matter of months away for the man who is currently making the Grands Tremblants happy.

The remake of Resident Evil 3 did not start on such spectacular bases as its elder, but still sold 5.2 million copies in the space of 2 years. Finally, the figure had already been known for a few days, but Resident Evil Village ended its first fiscal year with a score of 6.1 million copies distributed worldwide. It’s better than Resident Evil 7 biohazard which made 5 million over a similar duration.

After that ? For now, Capcom has only one big title with a release date, it’s Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak which will be released on June 30, 2022 and can rely on the 9 million sales of the base game. However, the publisher confirmed to have “several headlines“on the cards for this fiscal year, to the point of anticipating a record distribution of 37 million games by March 2023, against 32.6 million for the previous fiscal year. So we are going to celebrate.
