New battery technologies are coming to the smartphone industry. Reports are growing that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a more energy-dense battery, but Apple isn’t the only mobile maker working on plans to improve battery life. autonomy of our devices.

OnePlus had already mentioned developing a technology called Glacier Battery, the brand has just presented some details about it. This promises to be both very effective and durable, with cells that can retain up to 80% of their capacity after four years of regular use of the smartphone. With this promise, we are well beyond the 800 charge cycles which is often used as a reference when talking about cell phone battery preservation.

A durable and long-lasting battery

The manufacturer also announces a battery with very high energy density, reaching 763 Wh/ℓ. This makes it possible to increase the battery capacity at 6,100 mAh without having to play on the size of the battery. The weight also remains very well controlled, since it does not exceed 14 grams.

With such characteristics, we can expect a significant increase in the autonomy of our smartphones in the near future. Very close even, since a first model incorporating this 6,100 mAh battery has already been made official: the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro. Its release in China is imminent, but this range has so far never reached France. This is surely only a postponement, we can expect that the OnePlus 13 will also benefit from this new battery, just like Oppo, Vivo and Realme smartphones. It is also likely that competition will move quickly to adopt similar technology.
