Wednesday September 28, 2022, at the microphone of RTL, his interpreter, Michel Cordes confided: “It’s an open secret: yes, my character dies. Hubert Besson, the producer who was there at the start of the adventure often said that Roland was the totemic character. So, I believe that if the tribe disappears, it makes sense that the totem be taken down.“Then, Place du Mistral will be renamed Place Roland Marci. Referring to his last day of filming, the actor said with emotion: “It is an unforgettable memory. There were 150 people on set. For ten minutes, they kept applauding.“

Star of the series since the first episode, broadcast on August 30, 2004, Michel Cordes said: “I lived this adventure well because we touched the public. For me, the public is the boss. I think the soap opera was based a lot on the emotional, and the public said to themselves ‘they are like us’. A lot of people thought that was life in Marseille. On the contrary, the producers had from the start decided not to talk about life in Marseille, we talk about life, about French society. It could have happened in Brest or Lille, it would have been more or less the same… We were talking about French society. Moreover, statistically, the North was the region that watched the most.“Having seen the start of Laëtitia Milot, or even Dounia Coesens, he added:”It all worked like a family.“

Michel Cordes: “I’m going to enjoy life!”

While Plus belle la vie has many fans, the actor said, “There are people for whom we were very important, we were part of their life and all of a sudden, they will miss a member of the family. Here is our victory. It is the victory of a whole team. I insist on this point, because for me, the soap opera is not just stars.” Moved, Michel Cordes recalled that 200 people were working on the series. “I also hope that this beautiful technical tool, which was created for other reasons, in other forms, will still be used and that all these people will work. They are the ones who made this soap opera“, he specified. Referring to his future, Michel Cordes dropped: “I will enjoy life by immersing myself in my other passion: woodcarving.“
