Dune 2 is coming on February 28 and fans are getting more and more impatient! Director Denis Villeneuve will make them salivate with the revelation to the press of the first minutes of the second part.
After the success of the first part in 2021, Dune 2 is preparing to deliver its epic conclusion on February 28, 2024 in theaters. To keep fans waiting, Denis Villeneuve visited Paris to present the first minutes of the film to the press.

The newspaper West France was present and explains to us what is contained in the opening sequence of the film. We learn that Princess Irulan Corrino, played by Florence Pugh, appears in the first scene of Dune 2.
It is she who reminds us of the events of the previous opus, specifying that the Battle of Arrakis has ended. “In the morning, the Atreides were no longer… Except Paul Atreides, (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) refugees to the indigenous Fremen tribe after escaping the evil Harkonnen. Shortly after, we discover the hero of the story at the foot of a cliff, huddled in the sand against Chani (Zendaya), the Fremen woman discovered in the last minutes of Dune 1″indicates Ouest France.

“Much more ambitious”
“We are in direct continuity with the first film. But this one is much more ambitious. It is an action film, more muscular, more rhythmic. We tried at all costs to avoid the viewer having an impression deja vu. The intimate relationships between Paul and Chani are at the heart of it. Picked up by a Fremen patrol, Paul will have to gain the trust of the community, part of which is religious, the other more refractory.”explains the Canadian director.
The latter specifies that Paul Atréides will literally transform: “In the first film, more contemplative, the camera revolved around a young man who discovered a new planet, a new culture… The second will show his touching transformation from teenager to young man. He will become a charismatic command figure .”
Denis Villeneuve concludes by evoking the character of Lady Jessica, played by Rebecca Ferguson, the “brain” Of the history. “This character fascinates me. She’s the one who pulls all the strings. I wanted it to be clearer than in the novel by Frank Herbert“he confided.
As a reminder, Dune 2 once again follows Paul Atreides; the latter unites with Chani and the Fremen to lead the revolt against those who destroyed his family. Haunted by dark premonitions, he finds himself confronted with the greatest dilemma of all: choosing between the love of his life and the destiny of the universe.
The film will be released in theaters on February 28, 2024.
