The Summer Game Fest 2024 puts on a show while two big events presented more than a hundred games! The Guerilla Collective and the Wholesome Direct have indeed pulled out all the stops this year, truly madness!
Because there’s more than just AAA or AAAA (hello Ubi) in life, the Summer Game Fest 2024 period is also the perfect opportunity to broaden your horizons a little. The independent scene shines every day alongside industry giants and has no shortage of gems. Moreover, most of the viral games that shatter records on Steam overnight come from the independent scene. A sector that is sometimes described as a “den of small games” and which, unfortunately, is not always highlighted as much as it should be.

Fortunately, there are events entirely dedicated to them. If aficionados certainly don’t need it to follow their favorite hits, initiatives like the Guerilla Collective or the Wholesome Direct are perfect for putting them in the spotlight and thus attracting a wider audience. During this Summer Game Fest period, two big events took place. More than 4.5 hours of streaming took place for more than a hundred games presented and/or announced. It’s impossible to go around it as it’s a real festival. You can find everything there, from action games, metroidvania, adventure RPGs but also horror with quite a few games with the good vibes of Silent Hill 2 like Hollow Body or Post Trauma seen in the Guerilla Collective on June 6.
We also had a lot of automation games like the very good Chocolate Factoryhalfway between Satisfactory And Charlie and the chocolate factory. But it is above all the cozy and/or poetic games that win the prize. Titles like the already incredible Summerabsolutely sublime, or even Garden of the Sea coming soon to Switch.
