2023 is a great year for fighting game enthusiasts. For the past few days, the millions of fans of this genre have been having a field day on street fighter 6. Capcom’s game should stay in the limelight for quite a while. But beware, a competitor will point the tip of his nose on September 19: Mortal Kombat 1. The game developed by NetherRealm does not intend to let its rival dominate the market, because it too has serious arguments to seduce both fans and neophytes. The good news is that it will be possible to find out what Mortal Kombat 1 has in the belly well before the exit and in a completely free way. We explain the procedure to you.
Mortal Kombat 1 will soon be free to play
Warner Bros. Games has just announced the dates for the stress test phase of Mortal Kombat 1. It will take place from June 23 at 5 p.m. to June 26 at the same time. To register, this happens on the official website of Warner Bros Games. It is imperative to have a WB account to have a chance of being chosen for the stress test phase. Selected players will receive a code by email on June 21.
Unlike a beta, a stress test allows developers to test the stability of online servers before launching a game. It therefore does not provide access to as much content as a beta phase, but still allows players to discover a game for free several weeks before its release, and that is the most important thing. In the case of Mortal Kombat 1, you will be able to try your hand at 1vs1 in multiplayer as well as part of the Klassic Towers offline mode if you are selected. Please note that the stress test is exclusively available on PS5 and Xbox Series.
Warner Bros specifies that having pre-ordered the Premium or “Kollector” edition of Mortal Kombat 1 does not give any priority access to the stress test, although these versions include a week’s early access to the game from NetherRealm Studios. Players who have pre-ordered the game on PS5 or Xbox Series and who will therefore be able to play the closed beta are also not automatically offered access to the stress test. The places will therefore be very expensive to try Mortal Kombat 1 from the end of June.
A reboot of the saga that promises to be ultra gore
If you missed the information, know that the game operates a total reboot of the series (hence its name) and will be centered on the story of Liu Kang, the God of fire. According to a recent leak, this new Mortal Kombat 1 should offer a simply huge roster of fighters, although this remains to be confirmed. DLCs have already been announced and the content of the first would have leaked, confirming the presence of ultra-violent and totally crazy anti-heroes. Obviously, many kult characters from the franchise will also be back as playable characters and/or as Kameo. Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19 coming soon to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch (via cloud gaming).
