A body, unidentified at this stage, was discovered in a trunk after an intervention by firefighters in a house in Gondrexange (Moselle), the Metz public prosecutor said on Thursday.

“Following the intervention of firefighters in a house where there was a significant release of smoke in Gondrexange, the firefighters discovered a trunk” containing “an unidentified body at this stage,” Yves told AFP Badorc, confirming information from the Républicain Lorrain.

One person has been in police custody since late morning. A preliminary investigation into the murder charge is currently being carried out and entrusted to the Metz research section.

An uncovered trunk located in the heart of this village

Forensic examinations will take place in Nancy, where the body was transported. The house where this trunk was discovered is located in the heart of this Moselle village of barely 500 inhabitants, in a small street not far from the church.

In the middle of the day, a dog team and criminal identification went to the pavilion, which was new and showed no signs of the fire on the outside. According to the village baker met by an AFP journalist, the occupants of this house are a couple and two children.
