Motorists, say goodbye to the green card!

Thus, law enforcement now uses an electronic document to verify that motorists and users of motorized two-wheelers are properly insured. Called the insured vehicle file (FVA), it is automatically updated by insurers for each contract renewal or subscription.

This file can already be consulted by law enforcement since 2019. “This in no way changes the insurance obligation for any vehicle”would like to remind the Ministry of the Economy.

Presenting a physical insurance certificate is also still required during an inspection if you are traveling outside the European Union.

The disappearance of the green card, i.e. 60 million insurance certificates printed each year, should make it possible to avoid the emission of 1,200 tonnes of CO2 per year, Bercy figures.
