The launch of an Edge 30 Pro augured that of a “classic” smartphone: the Motorola Edge 30 “very short”. It is now official, at a more affordable price than its Pro counterpart, launched last March.

How the pricing table works
The Edge 30 looks a lot like the Edge 30 Pro, but with a slightly reduced form factor. The device, with a 6.5-inch screen when that of the Pro model points to 6.7 inches, weighs 155 grams and has the merit of being thinner (6.79 mm). It nevertheless retains its Full HD + definition, its refresh rate up to 144 Hz and its Amoled technology.
A slightly more affordable version requires, it is mainly at the level of its chip that the Edge 30 differs from its predecessor. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 thus gives way to the Snapdragon 778G+, mid-range chipset clocked at 2.5 GHz. It is here flanked by 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage, without microSD port. The smartphone retains compatibility with 5G and wifi 6, but also the triple photo module of the Edge 30 Pro. Count two 50-megapixel sensors, one with a wide-angle and the other with an ultra-wide-angle, but also a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The results obtained may, however, deviate from those of the Pro model, the image processing being linked to the chip included in the mobile.
Among the differences, note finally the battery capacity of the device, reduced from 4800 to 4020 mAh, while its fast charge goes from 68 W on the Edge 30 Pro to 33 W on the Edge 30. Smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 778G chips in 2021 have however often distinguished themselves by their good autonomy, and we can hope for the same this year with this 778G+ version.
The differences between the Motorola Edge 30 Pro and the “very short” Edge 30 are reflected on the final slate. While the first is billed at €799, the Lenovo brand announces its newcomer at a price of €499 (128 GB) or €599 (256 GB) from today. Note that an offer reserved for the Motorola site will allow you to benefit from a 100 € reduction on the 128 GB device, which will therefore increase to 399 € from April 28 to May 15.
