Motorsport comeback possible: Sebastian Vettel just can’t help it

Sebastian Vettel just can’t help it

Sebastian Vettel ended his career in Formula 1 at the end of last season. Since then he has reoriented himself – but can’t give up motorsport. Where can this lead? Maybe even back to the racing series? Or maybe another World Cup?

Almost eleven months after his retirement from Formula 1, 36-year-old Sebastian Vettel has not ruled out a return. The four-time world champion wants to continue to enjoy his new phase of life. “You can never rule out something like that, but at some point the time will be over. My age wasn’t the issue and it was my decision to draw the line. But I didn’t draw it just to cancel it a year later,” said Vettel .

“I have the privilege of spending more time with my family and my children, that is a priority. Just as I have rediscovered the world in recent years, Formula 1, no matter how big it may be, always has become smaller.”

Vettel is also keeping a motorsport comeback in the sports car world championship open. He could compete in the Endurance World Championship in the future. Tests for the British Jota team led by German team boss Dieter Gass, former head of Audi Motorsport, are under discussion.

Vettel wants to surprise himself

Vettel ended his Formula 1 career with Aston Martin last November at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after careful consideration. He became world champion four times and won a total of 53 races. He was unable to win the title he longed for with Ferrari. His goal was then to spend more time with his wife and three children and to devote himself to his environmental commitment. Vettel does not have a precise professional future plan. “I’m excited about that myself,” he replied to a corresponding question.

“But that was exactly my intention: not to immediately take on the next task or get into the next cockpit and first get to know the side of me that can try everything and has time. I haven’t had that in the past. I live in one Phase where you can feel and discover yourself a little differently. At the same time, I really enjoy the time with the family. That’s why I can’t give this dream answer as to what will be on my number line in the future.”

However, the issue of the environment and sustainability will accompany Vettel. “All the things that have been bothering me in recent years will continue to bother me in the future and it could perhaps go in that direction,” he explained.
