The American manufacturer presents the second version of its portable speakerwith the main novelty being the presence of two speakers for stereo sound.

The Sonos Move was a small revolution when it was released in 2019. The manufacturer, then specializing in multiroom audio, presented its first nomadic and Bluetooth speaker, usable outdoors.

The Sonos Move goes stereo

We therefore had to wait four long years to see the arrival of the Sonos Move 2, which brings significant improvements. The first novelty, and it is significant, is the integration of two tweeters offering stereo sound, whereas the previous version was content with mono sound. A new woofer is also present, with the promise of deeper and more precise bass.

We could quickly summarize this new Sonos Move as a portable Sonos Era 100. The exterior design remains close to the previous Move, with a handle on the back for carrying it. On the top, we find the same system of touch controls to pause or play a song as well as a light strip which allows you to adjust the volume of the music. In addition to the usual white and black colors, the Sonos Move 2 is available in a brand new olive green color.

This speaker is not light and retains a fairly substantial weight of 3 kilos, in a slightly more compact format despite everything. It also maintains its IP56 certification, and is resistant to dust and splashes.

More complete, more powerful and more expensive

The Sonos Move 2 also has a USB-C port to connect any compatible device, subject to purchasing the adapter offered by the manufacturer. To connect with your mobile device, the Sonos Move incorporates both a Bluetooth 5.0 chip and a Wi-Fi 6 chip to connect it to your compatible internet box. Alexa is still there as a voice assistant, as is the more limited Sonos assistant, reserved for listening to music on your favorite streaming platforms.

Finally, the autonomy has been revised and doubled compared to its predecessor. The Sonos Move 2 can provide 24 hours of audio playback, compared to 11 for the previous model. The battery is removable, for possible replacement, and an optional charging station is available for use at home as the main speaker while charging.

The Sonos Move 2 will be available from September 20, but it is already possible to pre-order it now. Only problem: its price of 499 euros, up 50 euros compared to the first Sonos Move of the name.
