No price or release date yet, but the Graphic card GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Expert already promises to be a great success.
The new spearhead of the MSI company’s graphics card catalog, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G Expert was quickly presented at CES 2024 in Las Vegas where it impressed with its design.
Beyond the mere appearance of the card – which is extremely reminiscent of NVIDIA’s Founders Edition models – we now know more about its technical specifications.
Vapor chamber and heat pipes
Presented, therefore, in Las Vegas, MSI’s Expert range was expected to quickly arrive on the market and if there is no question of a precise launch date yet, things are becoming clearer.
Let’s first remember that the design of the card clearly distances it from MSI’s habits. There is no question of aligning three fans as is often the case on high-end partner models and MSI has adopted the design of the Founders Edition with two fans. The first is placed above the vapor chamber, which is at the GPU level.
The GPU is precisely in contact with heat pipes intended to conduct heat beyond the PCB with, at the end of the heatsink bringing together these heat pipes, the second fan.
Not far from 2 kilograms!
Aesthetically, the result is very close to the Founders Edition thanks, in particular, to this fairing – in aluminum – which gives the impression of a much more “closed” card than the other models of the brand.
On the other hand, there will probably be no question of a public price at the level of the price recommended by NVIDIA for its Founders Edition while the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G Expert will immediately be at higher frequencies than the original ones: we are talking about a GPU at 2610 MHz base which will be possible to push to 2625 MHz in extreme mode.
MSI also reveals the measurements of the beast, an imposing card measuring 331 x 142 x 78 millimeters for occupancy of three PCI Express slots and, above all, a weight of 1,909 grams… all the same!
