In a few days, AMD will join Intel in its support for PCIe 5.0 with the release of the Ryzen 7000 on the AM5 platform. While he had been rather reserved until now, MSI feels the wind is turning and announces its first SSD to the new standard.
MSI thinks about PCI Express Gen 5
From its full name “Spatium M570 PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 HS”, the newcomer adopts the traditional M.2 2280 format. It is based on the E26 controller signed Phison, like most of the models already announced.
On the other hand, if MSI mentions the release of three distinct capacities (1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB), it does not give details on the type of 3D NAND flash used, probably 176 layers.

But don’t forget the “old” generation
In parallel with this announcement, MSI specifies that the “heat sink” option is added to its catalog for a slightly less modern SSD model, the Spatium M460.
At the PCIe Gen 4 standard, the SSD is still capable of reaching speeds of 5 GB / s in sequential read and another 4.5 GB / s in sequential write. Plenty to do.
The Spatium M460 is available in four distinct capacities from the 250 GB version to the 2 TB model, including 500 GB and 1 TB. MSI specifies that it offers a “high level of write endurance”, but does not give no numerical value.
The optional heatsink is a useful precaution, especially for some motherboards that only have a cooling solution on the first M.2 port. However, again, no release date or price has been communicated.
