If your mountain bike is stolen, you sometimes face an arduous marathon of proof before the insurance company finally only reimburses a fraction of the purchase price to the person who was stolen from. This frustration can be effectively avoided. The company Muc-Off, together with Apple, has launched a so-called “Stealth Tag Holder”. The complicated name hides an anti-theft device that can be attached to the valve inside the tire. Using this tag, the bike can later be located with meter accuracy using the iPhone app.
The valve and holder for the tracker are included in the sales price of CHF 45. However, the tracker itself must be obtained from the German telecom giant. The system works from a tire width of 38c. For bikes with narrower tires there is the “Secure Tag Holder” from Muc-Off. It is screwed to the frame under the bottle holder.
