After silver in the 100 m, she now wins EM gold in the 200 m: the Swiss Mujinga Kambundji.
It was something of a last chance race. In the 100m, Mujinga missed Kambundji gold by five-thousandths of a second, the relay was eliminated in the semifinals on Friday morning. If the most successful Swiss track and field athlete wanted to become European Champion in 2022, then she had to run a perfect race. And indeed: She accelerated in the curve and on the home straight she ran irresistibly. Dina Asher-Smith, three-time European champion in 2018, didn’t stand a chance either. Kambundji won in 22.32.
