Multi-year prison sentence – armed bank robberies: robbers in court


After seven armed bank robberies, a 32-year-old Bosnian and a 27-year-old Kosovar had to answer at the Vienna regional court on Wednesday. The two men are said to have robbed two banks in Vienna and one each in Salzburg and Graz between July 30 and August 18, 2020 by threatening the employees with a gun. According to the indictment, they stole a total of around 89,000 euros.

At the beginning of October, according to the indictment, the 32-year-old single-handedly carried out two more attacks on financial institutions in Vienna, which earned him an additional 20,000 euros. The 27-year-old is said to have relieved a bank in Vienna-Floridsdorf with a 29-year-old accomplice by 9,800 euros on October 19, with a 22-year-old man being available to drive an escape vehicle. The same man is said to have already participated as a chauffeur in the coup in Salzburg. All four defendants now face several years’ imprisonment, the two main defendants already have a relevant criminal record for serious robbery.
