Despite its success, MultiVersus remains in beta for the time being. The game director says that several changes will take place before the game’s release, particularly in terms of hitboxes and hurtboxes.

Tony Huynhthe director of MultiVersus, tweeted about of the new game update which fixes bugs affecting certain movements of Jake and Tom & Jerry. A user then asked him if Finn was going to get a nerf, as his moves seem to break through opponents’ defenses too easily. To that, the director has confirmed that the hero of Adventure Time will be entitled to modifications just like the hitbox/hurtbox system.

“We’re going to look at Finn in sections. We’re working on a big overhaul of our hitbox/hurtbox system, so we don’t want too many moving parts. »

As a reminder, hitboxes and hurtboxes are the two essential components of hit detection in a game. A hitbox is an invisible box that is created when a character performs an attackand which shows the extent of the space covered by the attack. A hurt box is another invisible box that sits above a character and determines where it can be hit.

MultiVersus’ redesign of hitboxes and hurtboxes has the potential to significantly change the feel of controller-in-hand gaming. It will either be easier or harder to hit opponents and this could make the game of First Play Games more technical in some aspects.

These changes may come with MultiVersus Season 1 which was recently postponed.
