Murder of Lola: “Anger chased away my sadness”, the revolted neighborhood

An entire neighborhood is in shock. Flowers, candles, words of teenagers, “Lola we miss you” cover the entrance to the residence where the young girl lived, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. It is also here that she was seen for the last time, before finding, in the same place, a trunk containing her lifeless body.

“It’s really upsetting”

With tears in her eyes and her face closed, Myriam, a neighbor, comes to meditate for the first time. “It’s next door, it could have been anyone. My brother, my sister, my cousin. It’s really moving. Excuse me, I’m very moved. I have a big thought for the family and I I’m very sad,” she said, wiping away her tears.

But after the first days of mourning and sadness, it is now anger that prevails here and even oppresses the neighborhood. For Catherine, 75, this murder should never have happened: “This person who must be expelled since August, if it had been done, this little Lola would still be alive. Anger chased away my sadness. A news item chases another”, protests the retiree.

The impression of an inevitable violence

The impression of inevitable violence is what most oppresses the inhabitants of the 19th arrondissement like Malika: “We are fed up, there is no longer security in France”, she says. angry. Sabrina, she says she lives in fear: “I had the drug addicts, now they are gone, and today it’s the murder of a little girl”, she says revolted. “It doesn’t stop.”

These two neighbors say they are afraid for their children. A psychological listening cell should remain open as long as necessary for the inhabitants of the district.
