LKA investigates Telegram conspirators

According to a report, radicalized anti-vaccination opponents and conspiracy believers are said to have formulated plans to kill Saxony’s Prime Minister Kretschmer. The place of their networking is the messenger service Telegram. The LKA Saxony is now investigating the group and individual members.

According to the report by the ZDF magazine “Frontal” on plans to murder Saxony’s father Michael Kretschmer, the Saxon State Criminal Police Office has started investigations against a group of over 100 people networked on Telegram. The authority announced that there was a suspicion of criminal offense against the “Dresden Offline Networking” group and its individual members. The allegations in question are currently being examined together with the Central Office for Extremism Saxony (ZESA) of the Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Radicalized vaccination opponents and corona conspirators had shared suspected violent fantasies and murder plans against Saxony’s prime minister, according to a ZDF research on the Telegram messenger service. Individual members of the group therefore met several times in public places, possibly to discuss how to proceed in the future.

In the report, citing the chat history, it says that some men have already acquired weapons and ammunition or should already have them in advance. One of the actors is quoted as saying: “I would also go to extremes if I have to.”

After a conspiratorial meeting of some group members two weeks ago in a Dresden park, it became unmistakably clear in the Telegram chat, according to ZDF, that murder plans against CDU politician Kretschmer were being discussed. “We already said at the offline meeting that we would saw off the prime minister,” a participant of the nightly meeting is quoted as saying. Other people involved also said: “Invade the guy, pull the guy out of there and hang it up somewhere.”

Comments on weapons and crossbows

When entering into investigations, the LKA relies on audio messages recorded in the report, in which it is requested to take action against vaccinations and corona measures “if necessary with armed force” – against appropriate decision-makers and especially against the Saxon Prime Minister. According to the LKA, this results in a suspected criminal offense against the group “Dresden Offline Networking” and its individual members. Statements by individual members about the alleged possession of sharp weapons and crossbows are included in the assessment, according to the LKA.

The police terrorism and extremism defense center (PTAZ) with its special right-wing extremism commission at the State Criminal Police Office in Saxony is responsible for investigating the facts. Corresponding contact with ZDF was established.
