Musical biopics quiz: put on a show and try the 10/10

Music and cinema are your two passions? Prove it by hitting the nail on the head with our music biopic quiz.

After a passage noticed by the Cannes Film Festival, Elvis finally arrived in French cinemas, on Wednesday June 22. Baz Luhrmann brings the King back to life, undeniable rock legend, for a flamboyant film in which the director of Moulin Rouge confirms his taste for music.

But this is the first time that he has tackled a biopic, a genre very popular in Hollywood and around the world: because it allows the staging of a personality already known to the public (and ticks the boxes of the pre-awarenessdesire to rely on easily identifiable brands), but also to offer an actor or actress the role of his or her life.

If you are fond of these films, prove it and try to pass the quiz without fail.

As the last quiz question shows, Austin Butler isn’t the first actor to play Elvis on the big or small screen. But his performance is likely to be a landmark and give a huge boost to the career of the one who offers himself the top of the bill after small roles with Jim Jarmusch (The Dead Don’t Die) and Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood).

It would be a fair return for the actor, who has invested 200%, living in the skin of the King for almost two years. So much so that he had to be rushed to the emergency room the day after the end of filming, the backlash having completely extinguished his body as he told QG in May. Not content with knowing how to play the guitar and the piano, like Elvis himself, he studied many videos in order to grasp his tone and his gestures.

And took lessons with a vocal coach to be able to sing the songs of young Elvis himself, while Baz Luhrmann intended to call on a singer for these parts. When the King is older, on the other hand, it is a mixture between the voice of Austin Butler and that of the rock star, of which he is now one of the most striking incarnations.
