Nantes: robbers attack a McDonald’s with a backhoe loader

Un impressive burglary took place in Nantes, in a McDonald’s restaurant, Thursday, February 10 in the early morning. The robbers ripped open the facade of the establishment with the help of a backhoe that had been stolen from a nearby construction site, reports Ocean Press. The facts were noted by the cleaning team on their arrival, around 5:30 am. If the material damage is considerable, in particular at the level of the structure of the building, the loot recovered by the criminals would be very meager.

The thieves, whose identity remains unknown to this day, stole the contents of two safes worth less than 4,000 euros. As we learn Ocean Press, these armored cabinets usually hold little cash, smeared with special security ink in case of a breach. This extraordinary burglary with a backhoe will still cause the closure of the restaurant for several weeks. “We expect an armed robbery when you work at McDo, not a backhoe attack,” reacted one of the forty commercial employees at the microphone of France Bleu.

“The most important thing is that there are no injuries”

The departmental directorate of public security was in charge of the investigations. According to the first elements of the investigation, three people were seen fleeing in a BMW or a station wagon. “The priority is to secure the building. […] The most important thing is that there are no injuries, ”said Stéphane Lebreton, the restaurant manager, to our colleagues from Ocean Press. According to him, his damage would amount to approximately 6,000 euros.
