In March 2022, Jean-Pierre Pernaut took his last breath after a fight against illness. Having undergone prostate surgery, the journalist finally discovered a little later that he had lung cancer. While his treatment showed positive results, he suffered mini strokes and deterioration of the cardiac sphere. At 71, the former presenter of TV news of TF1 left behind his wife, Nathalie Marquay, but also his four children, Olivier, Julia, Lou and Tom. “They tell me: ‘Suddenly, there is a damaged heart valve.’ I find it strange because barely a month ago, we did all the tests for the heart and there were no Nothing”she revealed to Audrey Crespo-Mara in the show Seven to eight, Sunday January 14, 2024.

Throughout his struggle, Jean-Pierre Pernaut was able to rely on his wife. On the day of the anniversary of their engagement, the former beauty queen, whom he had met during a Miss France election, had received a delicate attention for him: pastries and a candle to blow out. A birthday that occurred the day before the journalist’s last surgery. Finally after an MRI, the journalist is placed in an artificial coma and does not wake up: “I never saw him awake again. I spoke to him, I thanked him for everything he did. I wanted him to leave in peace”.

I wrote my premonitory dreams on a small board in the kitchen. And then it happened. I also predicted Johnny’s death in a bad dream. Jean-Pierre told me: ‘It’s not possible’. And then, at 4 a.m., the phone rang, and we were told of his death“, she confided to Parisian. The former Miss France says she predicted the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut and the year in which this death would occur. “I predicted he would die before he was 72. Of course, I never talked to him about it, it’s impossible to say. But I had mentioned it with close friends, like Karine Le Marchand who we found ourselves with on vacation.” Certainly the saddest of his premonitions…
