Nati goalie Yann Sommer is injured with Mönchengladbach. He’s out “until further notice”.

Concerns in the Swiss national team a month before the start of the World Cup in Qatar: regular goalie Yann Sommer suffered an injury on Tuesday evening with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Cup sixteenth final against second division Darmstadt (1: 2) and had to be replaced.

It is not known exactly how badly the national team was injured. After an MRI scan on Wednesday announced Gladbachthat Sommer suffered an ankle injury. He will not be available to his club “until further notice”. What remains clear is that summer is a race against time: Switzerland’s first World Cup match against Cameroon is already on the agenda in 5 weeks.

Twisted left foot

Sommer’s mishap happened in the 4th minute. The 33-year-old twisted his left foot in Darmstadt when he caught a high ball. Sommer was able to continue playing for a few minutes before he had to be substituted just before the end of the first quarter of an hour.
