  • Kloten wins the Zurich derby in the National League against the ZSC Lions 3-1.
  • Masters Geneva reacted to the slap on Friday and beat Freiburg 5-2.
  • Lugano wins a goal spectacle against Bern 5:4.

ZSC Lions – Kloten 1:3

The final third of the Zurich derby promised a lot of excitement. Underdog Kloten led 2-0 in the middle third thanks to goals from Keanu Derungs (24th) and Tyler Morley (32nd) and seemingly controlled the lead confidently. But in the last 20 minutes the hosts tried to catch up. In the 42nd minute, top scorer Denis Malgin scored the next goal, and less than two turns of the pointer the target was back in the Kloten goal. However, Denis Hollenstein’s supposed equalizer was not given due to goalkeeper interference. Nevertheless: The momentum was now almost entirely on the Zurich city side. However, this was suddenly stopped in the 51st minute: Christian Marti had to take a shower after a controversial check against Michael Loosli’s head and his team was outnumbered for five minutes. Kloten was unable to make this power play successful, but he scored shortly after the penalty expired. Tyler Morley scored the decisive 3-1.

Geneva-Servette – Fribourg-Gottéron 5:2

The champions showed a strong reaction to the embarrassing 1:6 defeat the day before against the “Dragons”. Noah Rod (3rd) and Marc-Antoine Pouliot (4th) ensured a quick lead in the starting third. Valtteri Filppula had an answer ready six times later to Julien Sprunger’s goal in the 23rd minute, and a little later Sakkari Manninen even increased the score to 4-1. Because Lucas Wallmark was able to shorten the score again shortly before the end of the third, the home team started the final period with a two-goal lead. Servette managed this confidently, and shortly before the end Eliot Berthon even scored Geneva’s fifth goal into the empty goal.

Ajoie – move 1:3

After the surprising home defeat on Friday, Zug left nothing to be desired at the reprise in Pruntrut. The guests, who were successful once in the first two thirds thanks to Lino Martschini (5th) and Dario Simion (35th), could especially thank goalkeeper Luca Hollenstein. With 30 saves, he brought the Ajoie offense to despair time after time. Philip-Michael Devos prevented the shutout with a goal in the 50th minute, but it wasn’t enough for the Jura team. Dario Allenspach put the lid on things with his goal to make it 3-1 in the 55th minute.

Lugano – Bern 5:4

From the start, the two teams exchanged blows in the Corner Arena. Bernd Wolf scored 1-0 for Lugano after just 17 seconds. But Bern was able to respond to this in three ways: Thierry Schild (8th), Ramon Untersander (13th) and Joona Luoto (16th) gave them a 3-1 lead in the starting third. The scoring spectacle continued in the middle third. Michael Joly (21′) and Sandro Zanetti (31′) initially equalized before Tristan Scherwey restored Bern’s lead in the 37th minute. The hosts equalized again in the 53rd minute through Cole Cormier. Around 3 minutes before the end, Wolf finally sent the home crowd into ecstasy with the goal to make it 5:4. The “Mutzen” had no reaction to this and, like on Friday, had to leave the ice as losers.

Biel – Ambri-Piotta 3:2

Second victory within 24 hours for EHC Biel: As on Friday, coach Petri Matikainen’s team defeated Ambri-Piotta 3-2. With the first non-power play goal of the entire game, Fabio Hofer gave the Bielers victory in the 45th minute. Previously, Yannick Rathgeb (26th) and Toni Rajala (34th) had turned the early Ambri goal by Dario Bürgler (10th) into a 2-1, before Inti Pestoni equalized again shortly before the second siren.
