  • The two National League games on Thursday brought HC Davos and champions Geneva-Servette each a 3-point win.
  • The in-form HC Davos secured victory in central Switzerland thanks to a Nordström goal 2 seconds before the end.
  • Geneva is working its way into the top 6 thanks to a 2-1 home win in the direct clash at the expense of Lugano.

Geneva – Lugano 2:1

The champions from Calvinstadt are no longer one of HC Lugano’s preferred opponents. In the third duel of the season, the first defeat resulted after a 7:4 and a 3:2. The narrow and somewhat fortunate 2-1 home win also lifted Geneva-Servette over the first line at the expense of the “Bianconeri”. Mark Arcobello had put the game on a supposedly successful path for the guests with a 1-0 lead in the 6th minute. In the middle section, the Romands – namely Valtteri Filppula (26th) and Tanner Richard (38th) in the power play – forced the turnaround. Two and a half minutes before the end, the Ticino team’s late celebration was nipped in the bud because the 2-2 was not given by Santeri Alatalo after a coach’s challenge due to an offside position.
