Thousands protest against Corona rules
Thousands of opponents of the Corona measures will take to the streets again on Saturday – but there are also counter-protests. The demonstrations are largely peaceful, but there are numerous violations of the mask requirement.
Thousands of opponents of the Corona measures again took to the streets in several German cities on Saturday. According to the police, larger rallies took place in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Schwerin and Fürth, among other places. In Hamburg a large demonstration by opponents of the Corona rules had been banned by a court. Nevertheless, according to the police, thousands of people came together at the planned meeting place. When many of them started showing placards and chanting together, the police dispersed the gathering. According to the police, three other registered demonstrations with a total of around 2,500 participants were peaceful.
Meanwhile, around 3,500 people gathered for a counter-rally in downtown Hamburg. An alliance against the right had called for the demonstration under the motto “Solidarity and education instead of conspiracy ideologies”.
In Dusseldorf more than 7000 people took part in protests against the corona measures. Administrative offense proceedings were initiated against dozens of demonstrators for disregarding the mask requirement. One participant was taken into custody because a knife was found on him during a check.
In Freiburg several thousand people took to the streets for and against the state corona rules. According to the police, around 6,000 opponents of the Corona policy moved around the city center in the afternoon. Around 2,500 people had previously gathered in the city center for a counter-demonstration to, among other things, turn against conspiracy ideologies and the trivialization of corona. The police initially did not record any major incidents.
“Small scuffles” in Flensburg

In Neubrandenburg officials counted about 570 demonstrators. A complaint was filed against one participant for carrying two knives. In Fürth, a rally against the Corona measures with around 1900 participants, according to the police, took place without any significant incidents.

A sit-in by counter-demonstrators had been cleared. In addition, the police reported an unauthorized gathering of around 400 opponents of the Corona measures at the central bus station. There were “small scuffles” with counter-demonstrators.
