Navigo Pass on iPhone: launch planned for late May 2024


The Navigo Pass on iPhone and Apple Watch is making waves again. After announcing at the start of the year that the dematerialization of the famous Ile-de-France transport ticket would arrive in spring 2024, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) unveiled a new release window on April 9, 2024.

To our colleagues at iGeneration, the company announces that “the technical development of the service is being finalized and should be operational by the end of May”. It remains to be hoped that the deadlines will be met.

As a reminder, IDFM has revised the release window for this feature several times. The latter was in fact announced for 2023, before being postponed to the first quarter of 2024 then to spring 2024.

In question, the negotiations with Apple for the use of NFC technology, which took time. In addition, administrative imbroglios – notably linked to the Île-de-France prefecture – last year also slowed down the arrival of the Navigo Pass on iPhone.

IDFM explained to iGeneration that “the integration of Île-de-France Mobilités transport tickets directly on iPhone, allowing validation devices to be passed, required additional technological development”.

Be careful though, the launch by the end of May is not confirmed. IDFM has in fact emphasized to Numeramathat this is not an officialization, but a forecast”.

The French media also recalls that the president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, had mentioned availability on July 1, 2024.
