As “NCIS: Los Angeles” bowed out this Sunday evening in the United States, LL Cool J, who plays Sam, made a surprise appearance in the finale of “NCIS: Hawaii”, another series from the franchise.
This Sunday, May 21, NCIS: Los Angeles bowed out after 14 years of good and loyal service. And if fans of the detective series had got used to the idea of saying goodbye to Callen (Chris O’Donnell), Sam (LL Cool J), Kensi (Daniela Ruah), Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), Hetty (Linda Hunt) and the other agents of the team, it would seem that CBS, the channel which broadcasts the series in the United States, decided otherwise.
LL Cool J will indeed reprise his role as Sam in a recurring role for season 3 of NCIS: Hawaii. Her first appearance was in the Season 2 finale of the Vanessa Lachey-led crime drama, which aired last night on CBS.
In episode 22, titled “Dies Irae”, while Jane Tennant and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) are victims of an attack in Venezuela, they receive the unexpected help of Sam, who made the trip from Morocco where we left him in the finale of NCIS : Los Angeles.
And it won’t be the last time viewers get to see LL Cool J in NCIS: Hawaii, as he’s expected to return on a recurring basis in the detective series to lend a hand to the agents of Pearl Harbor.
“Everyone at NCIS: Hawaii has been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and we couldn’t be more thrilled and honored to be able to add his spectacular talent to our ohana (“family” in Hawaiian, editor’s note) for the third season.“, said the executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash and Christopher Silber in a press release.
Vanessa Lachey, the star of NCIS: Hawaii, also reacted to the arrival of the comedian in the series: “One of the greatest things about the series is the ability NCIS: Hawaii has to bring the franchise together. We had a lot of fun spreading aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover.”
