Neighborhood dispute – “Sieg Heil” in the block of flats: Unconditional prison sentence

A long-simmering neighborhood dispute over noise in a Salzburg block of flats escalated last year to such an extent that a 30-year-old had to answer for being re-employed. His statements earned the previous convict a 15-month prison sentence.

A 30-year-old Austrian sat in front of the jury on Tuesday for re-activation. The forklift driver had repeatedly clashed with his Arab neighbor in a block of flats. The subject of the dispute: the constant noise from the defendant’s apartment. Because his neighbor threatened him with legal consequences, the man countered with “Austrians remain Austrians, Sieg Heil”. On August 28 of last year, the situation escalated completely. Because the neighbor did not want to accept the constant noise from the apartment of the five-times convicted defendant, he freaked out. He spat at the neighbors, showed a Hitler mustache with his fingers and shouted “Sieg Heil”. The neighbor’s wife reported the incident. The verdict of the eight jurors: 15 months unconditional imprisonment. The man accepted the verdict. The prosecutor’s office gave no explanation.
