(CercleFinance.com) – Neoen announces that it has given instructions to start work on Yllikkälä Power Reserve Two (YPR2) to Nidec, which will be in charge of the construction of the project and the supply of containers and battery cells as well as inverters.

This lithium-ion battery with an installed capacity of 56.4 MW / 112.9 MWh (two hours) will be the largest in the Nordic countries. It will be located 100 meters from Yllikkälä Power Reserve (30 MW / 30 MWh), Neoen’s first large battery in Finland.

Helping to improve the stability and reliability of Fingrid’s electricity system, it will be connected to its Yllikkälä substation, and its commissioning is planned for the first half of 2025. Neoen will be the long-term owner and operator of YPR2 .

With now more than 770 MW in operation or under construction backed in particular by nine corporate PPAs, the French group is one of the main independent producers of renewable energy in Finland.
