Nephew saw accident – Altbauer fell six meters with the work platform

A 73-year-old old farmer from Hörsching near Linz and his nephew used Sunday to do forestry work in the forest. But the joint toil ended tragically: the 73-year-old fell six meters into the depths with a hydraulic work platform that had come loose from the tractor’s holding device.

The old farmer and his 21-year-old nephew drove the tractor into the forest in Hörsching around 8:15 a.m. He had previously mounted the hydraulic work platform on the tractor’s hitch. The nephew parked the tractor and raised the work platform with his uncle. According to the police, a shift in the center of gravity probably caused the work platform and tractor to become tilted. Nephew called for rescue. The 73-year-old fell six meters along with the work platform and fell into the partially frozen Hörschingerbach. His nephew was able to free himself from the tractor and alerted the emergency services. The injured Altbauer was taken to the Linz accident hospital.
