Nestlé: progress in the fight against deforestation

(CercleFinance.com) – Nestlé reports further progress towards its goal of a deforestation-free cocoa supply chain by 2025, as part of its Cocoa and Forests Initiative launched in 2017 in collaboration with Côte d’ Ivory and Ghana.

The Swiss agri-food group thus indicates that it has restored more than 400 hectares of forest in the Cavally Forest Reserve – one of the largest classified forests in Côte d’Ivoire – and in the Beki and Toa Zèo forests.

Nestlé also distributed more than 2.2 million forest and local fruit trees to farmers to boost agroforestry and regenerative agriculture, and reached 5,000 farmers and their families with community outreach sessions.
