Netflix: after Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder signs his very first series inspired by the Vikings universe

The animated series “Twilight of the Gods” co-created by Zack Snyder will be unveiled by Netflix next fall.

We do not yet know whether or not a third Rebel Moon will see the light of day on Netflix. A worldwide hit, the second part of the feature film – unveiled on the platform on April 19 – has attracted many negative reviews. Rebel Moon also ranks among Zack Snyder’s lowest rated films…

But the American filmmaker has no shortage of projects, since our colleagues from Variety reveal the release date of its brand new animated series, titled Twilight of the Gods.

Set in the Viking era, this program aimed at an adult audience features a queen leading a team of mercenaries in a quest for revenge against a god from Norse mythology.

Co-created by Zack Snyder, Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco, Twilight of the Gods is a Franco-American production, via the Xilam studio in charge of the project’s animation.

A French studio nominated for an Oscar

Celebrated for its series that are very popular with young audiences (Oggy and the Cockroaches, Les Goofs in Space), Xilam Animation achieved international success in 2019 thanks to the feature film I Lost My Body by Jérémy Clapin, nominated for Oscar for Best Animated Film.

The first images of the series will be revealed during the Annecy 2024 Festival, where a first glimpse of the no less anticipated season 2 of Arcane will also be revealed. Twilight of the Gods will be available exclusively on Netflix next fall.
