Netflix: first photo of the new Nicky Larson, without Philippe Lacheau

The adaptation of “Nicky Larson”, straight from Japan, is revealed: here is the first preview of the film stamped Netflix.

We announced it to you last December, after One Piece and My Hero Academia, it was Nicky Larson’s turn to be the subject of a live action remake by Netflix, directly inspired by the cult manga CityHunter by Tsukasa Hojo.

CityHunter follows the adventures of “cleaner” Ryo Saeba (Nicky Larson at home) in Tokyo who must team up with Kaori Makimura, the younger sister of his former partner executed by a drug cartel. As we can read in the synopsis of the upcoming film, together they will try to find out the truth, thus forming a new duo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the adaptation will be “an updated, modern take on the manga, set in the busy streets of the Shinjuku district.”

Directed by Yuichi Sato, the film will feature Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba and Misato Morita as Kaori Makimura, both to discover below:

In France, the animated series, renamed Nicky Larson, was broadcast from October 1990 to April 1995 on the Club Dorothée show. Since then, reruns on several channels have not stopped and the show is now available on the MYTF1 platform.

True cult series of a whole generation, the anime has not always been unanimous and had to be modified for young viewers because of the sulphurous nature of the original work. But none of that stopped it from being a hit with us.

This new City Hunter film will be the very first adaptation of the manga in Japanese, its native language, after two foreign adaptations: Niki Larson (1993) with Jackie Chan and Nicky Larson and the perfume of Cupid (2019), by and with Philippe Lacheau .

The adaptation of Nicky Larson by Netflix should see the light of day on the platform in 2024.
