NETFLIX: One Piece, release date and first teaser trailer full of promise for the live-action series

It has been nearly five years sincean adaptation live action of One Piece was announced for netflix. Since then, we have been able to discover part of its cast or even some of its sets. The spread of its 8 episodes, instead of the 10 originally planned, had been confirmed for 2023 earlier this year and while we had a slight glimpse of the characters in costume, we were still waiting to see the result in motion. Well, it’s during the event TUDUM broadcast tonight from Brazil that the very first teaser trailer has just been revealed to the world. It will necessarily divide the fandomstarting with some artist choices differing from the base material (RIP the eyebrow of Sanji and the long nose ofUsopp), see for yourself:

The video starts with a map of the village of Fuchsia where the ship is moored Shanksbefore going to Luffy and at Vogue Merry in a shipyard, probably in Syrup if nothing has been changed, then in front of the restaurant ship Baratie. It’s then a broad view of Shells Town which is proposed, far from the simple “small” island of the manga, resembling much more a Mediterranean city on which would have come to be grafted a base of the Marine at its peak (thank you CGI). It’s there that Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) will obviously meet Zoro (Mackenyu Arata), then captured by Morgan (Langley Kirkwood), whose steel jaw we see on a huge poster with a cult of personality connotation. Another scene in the same setting shows us both characters, but also Nami (Emily Rudd), facing Marines. Yes, the browser is apparently going to be introduced much sooner, like the anime which had already made changes.

The swordsman then gives us a demonstration of his talents in front of an unknown character, whom some imagine to be the former Mr.7 who had tried to recruit him Baroque Works and of which only a sketch exists. The iconic scene of lord of the coast in front of Shanks is on its side very impressive in terms of renderingwhile great Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward), his big red nose and his smile a little too copied from the Joker have something to scare coulrophobes. The ship of garp (Vincent Regan) with his easily recognizable figurehead makes a brief onscreen pass for a cannon fire on the Merrywhich again is completely new at this stage of the adventure.

THE Miss Love Duck ofAlvida (Ilia Isorelýs Paulino) also makes a brief appearance, with Koby who will be… blondwhile he is supposed to have pink hair, but otherwise seems very loyal, while Luffy is about to stick a hell of a right to the pirate using the powers of his “Gomu Gomu no Mi”. We also have a look at the footwork of Sanji (Taz Skylar), using the slingshotUsopp (Jacob Romero Gibson) and the barrel scene at the entrance to Reverse Mountainbut without the storm that goes with it… To see if it will go well at the same time suddenly.

We’ll soon see more, since the release date of One Piece on netflix has been communicated, it will be for August 31, 2023. If you have never read Eiichirō Oda’s manga before, the first volumes retracing the arc East Blue which has been adapted here can be purchased as a set to the Fnac at the price of 82.80 €.
