With “Horizon Zero Dawn” Netflix secures the rights to another video game adaptation. In the series, heroine Aloy will once again save the world from rampaging machines that live in a post-apocalyptic USA.
In the story of the action-adventure, which was released in 2017 for the PlayStation 4, the slayer Aloy uncovers the dark secrets of the past. The game received numerous award nominations for Game of the Year, Best Storytelling, and more.
“Horizon Forbidden West”, the successor game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, was only released in February 2022.
The “Horizon Zero Dawn” series is one of numerous planned Netflix video game adaptations. These include a Resident Evil series, The Cuphead Show, a Bioshock movie, Castlevania and more.
Video game adaptations are also very popular with the competition. HBO is releasing a series on “The Last of Us”, while Amazon Prime Video is dedicated to “God of War”. At Peacock an implementation of “Twisted Metal” should start.
When “Horizon Zero Dawn” comes to Netflix is still unclear. According to the US magazine Deadline, the production is still in an early development phase.
