NETFLIX: The 3-Body Problem, intriguing extract and new broadcast date for the series from the creators of Game of Thrones

On the occasion of the Geeked Week 2023, Netflix allowed us to discover a unique overview of one of its future event series for the year 2024, The 3-body problem. It was in 2020 that we learned that the creators of Game Of Thrones David Benioff and DB Weiss were to be executive producers and writers on an adaptation of the Chinese novel The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, with Alexander Woo as co-writer. The first volume of this science fiction trilogy was also entitled at the beginning of the year to another series live-action intended primarily for Chinese television and entitled Three-Body. No less than 30 episodes have retraced this first part of the story and you can see a trailer at the end of the article if you are curious. Side Netflixwe were able to discover a first teaser trailer last June during Tudumwhich then promised us for January 2024. Ultimately, you will have to be a little more patient.

Excerpt in French

The eight episodes of this Hollywood series The 3-body problem will therefore be broadcast on Thursday March 21, 2024 if nothing changes. Yes, it’s very little compared to the thirty of the Chinese soap opera, which all last more than forty minutes… Let’s hope that nothing is rushed and that this simply opens the way to many seasons, because the opposite would be disappointing. The preview above highlights what is seen by the characters as a very sophisticated virtual reality headset (probably a little too much, but this is an artistic choice). Jin Cheng (Jess Hong) therefore presents the device to Jack Rooney (John Bradley, known for his role as Samwell Tarly In GoT), which involves its little comparison with very real brands known to the public. He eventually tries it and discovers a world indistinguishable from reality, but is apparently not welcome and is attacked by a woman (Sea Shimooka) wielding a katana.

This is probably not the best way to interest people who are completely unfamiliar with the work, but it should at least be intriguing. Also note that the cast includes Jovan Adepo, Rosalind Chao, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Jonathan Pryce, Eve Ridley, Ben Schnetzer, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani and Benedict Wong.
