Netflix is looking to recruit several people to create a AAA game that offers a third-person RPG experience. Enough to confirm the major projects of the SVoD platform in gaming.
Netflix may be an SVoD service intended to offer you movies and series in streaming, the platform also has big ambitions in terms of video games. It is in this context that Netflix Gaming was created (“Netflix Games” in France). However, the firm’s major projects in this sector do not stop there. Behind the scenes, a big budget game is brewing.
Indeed, the specialized site Mobilegamer.biz noticed — via Netflix Jobs — that there were several openings for Netflix’s video game studios. The American giant is looking for a technical director, an artistic director, a lead developer or even “Live Service Analyst” – which can be translated as “live service analyst.
A very big budget RPG game
The most interesting, however, lies in the descriptions of the missions. In the technical director’s job description, Netflix clearly states that it wants to ” create a new AAA game leveraging Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. As a reminder, the notion of triple A designates a game whose development benefits from one of the highest budgets in the industry.
That’s not all. By detailing the tasks of the lead developer, Netflix also reveals the type of game he intends to make: a new third-person action RPG “. It is further specified that no monetization system based on purchases in app is not considered.
All this tends to prove that Netflix does not intend to spare its efforts and investments in video games. The company has already proclaimed its ambitions in cloud gaming loud and clear, while Netflix Gaming has enjoyed an honorable start.
