2024 - Netflix: Warrior Nun series saved from cancellation by fans, season 3 confirmed?

While it had been abandoned by Netflix after two seasons, the series Warrior Nun has finally been renewed for a season 3, as confirmed its creator Simon Barry. A turnaround that comes after months of fan protests on social media.

A movie or a season 3?

It is via his official Twitter account that Simon Barry (continuum, Ghost Wars) revealed the good news: “Today I am happy to officially announce that thanks to your combined voices, passion and incredible efforts, #WarriorNun will return and be more EPIC than you can imagine. More details to come! SOON ! THANKS !”.

If we do not yet know in what form the series will return – a season 3 or a film? — we can only rejoice at such a turnaround. It is true that since the news of its cancellation last May, the mobilization of fans to save the series has not ceased to intensify. The hashtag #SaveWarriorNun had also crystallized the protests on social networks.

I have to say that Warrior Nun offers a caring vision of sisterhood, as well as strong LGBTQ+ representation. Over the weeks, the series had become the symbol of the fight for better visibility of the community in films and series. In the heart of Pride month, such news resonates with all the more force.

Adapted from the comic Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn, published in 1993, the series Warrior Nun follows the character of Ava (Alba Baptista), a young woman who wakes up in the morgue with a strange artifact implanted in her back. She discovers that she is now a member of an ancient order that has made it its mission to fight demons on Earth.
