Apple will soon release an update for the Apple Watch. WatchOS 9.4 brings a small but useful feature to the smartwatch. Active alarm clocks can no longer be muted by covering the display.

The new feature can prevent you from oversleeping if you wear the smartwatch at night and accidentally cover the screen. The “Cover for Mute” feature is in the Apple Watch settings under “Sounds & Haptics”. It is designed so that you can mute notifications such as calls by covering the display for three seconds.

However, the function also had an influence on the alarm clock. This problem should now be solved. On the iPhone, the separation of mute and alarm is standard. Even in silent mode, the alarm tone is played regularly.

WatchOS 9.4 is currently in the last beta version for testers, so the release for all users shouldn’t be long in coming.
