The next chapter in the “Alien” film series is taking shape. The cast has now been decided, and shooting is scheduled to start next week.

It’s been around six years since the last entry in the long-lived “Alien” franchise, “Alien: Covenant”. Now the 20th Century Fox film studio has given an update on the next film about the Xenomorphs, which first scurried across cinema screens in 1979. According to this, the shooting will start on March 9th in Budapest, Hungary. as “Variety” quotes from the statement.

In addition, a number of actors have been announced who will appear in the hitherto untitled “Alien” film. Among them are David Jonsson (“Industry”), Spike Fearn (“The Batman”), Archie Renaux (25, “Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (21, “Rosaline”) and Aileen Wu (“Away from Home”) . It was previously announced that “Mare of Easttown” actress Cailee Spaeny (24) was able to get the lead role.

The studio is still keeping a low profile when it comes to the plot. All that is said is that the film revolves around “a group of young people on a distant planet” who “find themselves confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe”. In addition, it is another prequel related to the films with Sigourney Weaver (73) aka Ellen Ridley.

A new director is at the helm

Unlike the last time “Alien: Covenant” and “Prometheus” will not direct “Alien” creator Ridley Scott (85). In his place, horror expert Fede Alvarez (45) can let off steam in the well-known film franchise. Alvarez made a name for himself with the successful “Evil Dead” remake and the unusual thrill “Don’t Breathe”. Scott, on the other hand, will only act as one of the producers.

A target start date has not yet been communicated. Due to the start of shooting in the coming week, this should be realistic at the earliest in the middle of the coming year.
