new excavations under a slab “This could last all day”

New twist in the case of the disappearance of little Émile. BFM DICI, announced this Tuesday, September 12, 2023 that investigators are currently carrying out searches “under a slab” located a few hundred meters from the family building where the 2-year-old boy disappeared on July 8 .

After weeks at an impasse, the investigation into the disappearance of little Émile has finally rebounded. According to information from BFM DICI, since Monday morning, investigators have been searching a house in the hamlet located a few hundred meters from the family building belonging to Émile’s relatives. In-depth research in this “Phoenix” type house built in a meadow, not far from a makeshift sheepfold and hidden behind two hundred-year-old trees would have led investigators to subsequently carry out a search “under a concrete slab”.

We thus learn that the excavations would still be in progress this Tuesday, September 12, 2023 and that a jackhammer would also have been used by the investigators in order to destroy a huge concrete slabinstalled during work carried out by a construction company this summer.

Disappearance of Émile: a real breakthrough in the investigation?

As a reminder, Émile, a two-year-old boy has been missing since Saturday July 8, 2023 in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet. He was in his grandparents’ house and under their supervision when he disappeared and has not been seen since. Very quickly, a major local mobilization was put in place to find the little boy with blond hair.

A few days after Émile’s disappearance, a sonar detected an anomaly on this famous slab which is once again at the heart of investigations today. At the time, investigators destroyed part of the concrete to rule out any doubt but ultimately failed to find a conclusive lead.

Additional investigations have therefore been carried out for several hours and this could possibly constitute a real turning point in the investigation. “Depending on what is found, yes. But we have no certainty. For the moment, we are witnessing a removal of doubts” declared a magistrate to BFM DICI. “The entire slab is currently destroyed. The surface area is large. This could last all day” supplements another source.

We take note that this house belongs to a couple who lives in the Marignane region (Bouches-du-Rhône), a long-time regular at Le Vernet, and who has paid a company in the south of France to carry out work for several months. “They are very good people. Their parents have had a house at the bottom of the village for a very long time” describes a regular of the place. Also, we learn that the building previously belonged to a farmer from Haut-Vernet, still living in the Pays de Seyne since he retired.

Last week, this same man had been interviewed at length by the investigators to rule out any suspicion. “It lasted two hours at the Seyne-les-Alpes gendarmerie. Personal questions like the name of my parents, my habits or even what I think of so-and-so” explained the retiree to BFM DICI.
