Towards an official development of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy 2? A new clue tends to confirm that a sequel is in the works. The Avalanche Software studio needs talent.
Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy was one of the biggest hits of 2023. As of May, Avalanche Software’s game had sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. Colossal sales that allowed Warner Bros. Interactive to exceed their forecasts by 256% according to Arien Darby, the company’s senior marketing manager. The beginning of a great saga? After a rain of records, including on the Twitch streaming platform where the title achieved the second largest peak in attendance for a single-player game, Hogwarts Legacy 2 seems obvious.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 in development? A possible new clue
A few months ago, a job offer was discovered on the Warner Bros. website. Discovery. The developers were looking for a software engineer for a “unannounced console AAA game”. Hogwarts Legacy 2? This is the most obvious lead. Apart from this title, the Avalanche Software team only released Cars 3 under the aegis of Warner, which does not box in the same category. And the studio just needs arms to make its project a reality.
Two new job offers, for associate software engineer and senior character technical artist profiles, have been published. Candidates who are invited to prepare for the sequel by joining the team behind this Harry Potter game. So is it aboutHogwarts Legacy 2 ? We can’t be 100% sure, but the opposite would be surprising. The studio refers to its project as AAA, and is looking for applicants comfortable with the Unreal Engine. The graphics engine on which the first episode runs.
In addition, Avalanche Software has buried the idea of DLC, which leaves time to work on a sequel, while tweaking the Nintendo Switch version. This version is still not available, but barring a last minute glitch, it arrives on November 14, 2023. Let’s hope for the fans that the postponement will have made it possible to release a port up to par. The answer in a few months.

What could Hogwarts Legacy 2 look like? Avalanche Software may include content removed from the first game. Digging through the Hogwarts Legacy files, the dataminer GrandTheftDiamonds found a trace of a system of romances. The players would then have had the possibility of offering, for example, gifts to develop a relationship.
In these files, mention is also made of points for houses. By casting forbidden spells, players could have lost some. To regain it, it would have been necessary to take a course or defuse a conflict. Finally, a morality system could also have spiced up the adventure. The concept ? Influencing the reputation of sorcerer’s apprentices according to their actions (violence, theft…). NPCs would thus have been able to perceive magicians differently depending on their popularity or unpopularity. Promising?
We’ll see if Avalance Software finally decides whether or not to add these mechanics to Hogwarts Legacy 2.
