New on Netflix: did you like the film Suburbs? The sequel is coming today!

Kery James returns 4 years after his first Banlieuards for the continuation of the adventures of the siblings that he composes on screen with Jammeh Diangana and Bakary Diombera.

In 2019, Netflix bet on Kery James and produced her first feature film. Writer and co-director alongside Leila Sy, the rapper from Guadeloupe was inspired by his song Banlieusards and delivered a sometimes dark and sometimes luminous portrait of French cities through the story of a brother: Soulaymaan ( Jammeh Diangana), a student lawyer in Paris, Demba, the eldest who lives to the rhythms of traffic and the street, and their little brother Noumouké (Bakary Diombera) who is still finding his way.

Banlieusards was able to meet its audience on the streaming platform. With a rating exceeding 4/5 on AlloCiné at the time of its release, the feature film was one of the highest rated French films on Netflix in 2019. If we add to this the rather good viewing figures, the announcement of a sequel was more than logical.

It took Kery James and Leila Sy 4 years to write and shoot Banlieusards 2, which subscribers can watch now on Netflix. This new film marks the return of the three Traoré brothers to our screens.

The rapper changes angle this time and centers his story on the character of Demba (whom he portrays), who survived an assassination attempt at the end of the first part. Now tidy and at the head of his own business, he and his brothers struggle “to escape from a daily life of betrayals, revenge and violence in a Parisian suburb”, the synopsis tells us.
