Almost every second EU citizen lacks basic digital skills. Only 54 percent of Europeans between the ages of 16 and 74 have at least basic digital skills, according to a report by the EU Commission published on Thursday. This is well below the EU target of 80 percent by 2030. At just under 50 percent, Germany is still below the EU average.
Skills such as reading online news sites, searching for information on the web or checking sources were taken into account.
