In the fight against the fifth wave of corona, the French government wants to provide further incentives for vaccination. She also wanted to adjust the access regulations in mid-January and deny the unvaccinated access to cultural institutions, restaurants and long-distance trains. However, the bill has not yet passed Parliament. After several session breaks in the House of Commons, the passage could be further delayed. The deliberations in both chambers of Parliament ended without a result. The text now has to go back to the National Assembly and Senate before it can finally be passed.
The number of infections has skyrocketed in France in recent weeks. Omicron now accounts for two-thirds of the cases sequenced. Most recently, the authorities reported a good 329,000 infections within one day. The number of infections registered per 100,000 people within a week was around 2829 nationwide.
