The West African country faces the major task of converting the boom in the national team to the national clubs.

At the end of 2022, Morocco became the first African country ever to reach a World Cup semi-final. A success that experts predicted would have great appeal for an up-and-coming football nation – rightly so?

Three months later they are still reminiscing in West Africa. “But life goes on,” says Amine El Amri, who himself was in Qatar as a sports journalist. And with it everyday life in Morocco’s league with the chance for a new sporting self-confidence, fans as a blessing and a curse and outdated club structures.
