The physiotherapy association Physioswiss has filed a supervisory complaint against the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG).
The complaint is directed against a new tariff structure.
The proposed version of the tariff structure is neither in accordance with the law nor appropriate, says Physioswiss in a statement Media release with.
The Federal Council sent the revised tariff structure out for consultation in mid-August. From January 2025, the current flat rates for reimbursement of physiotherapy sessions are to be replaced by a tiered system that is based more heavily on the duration of a physiotherapy session.

The Federal Council can only set the tariffs for physiotherapy by ordinance if the collective bargaining partners – the health insurance companies and the health associations – cannot agree. However, the BAG did not fulfill its obligation to inform health insurers of their obligation to negotiate, according to Physioswiss. Instead, it unilaterally took up the health insurers’ requests for changes.
According to the Physioswiss association, the new tariff model would lead to a “precarious deterioration of a service area that is already significantly underfunded”. In the complaint, the association demands that supervisory proceedings be opened against the BAG. The association submitted the complaint to Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, who will head the Interior Department from next year.
